Alex Morgan is going to need extra salt for the rim of her trophy. After scoring a penalty goal at the Concacaf W Championship game in Mexico and securing a spot for the US women’s soccer team in the 2024 Olympics, Morgan was ready for a celebratory drink. On July 18, during the scoreless game against Canada, the forward slammed the ball into the net, giving the USWNT the win and guaranteeing them a spot in the upcoming Summer Games in Paris. According to US Soccer, it was the 118th goal of Morgan’s career and her third goal in the tournament, which earned her the Golden Ball trophy.

While Morgan has been leading the USWNT for over a decade, this goal was especially meaningful. To celebrate, she filled the Concacaf W Championship trophy with an “estimated 20 margaritas,” because that’s what legends do. She was surrounded by the team in what could easily be the hotel bar and held up the filled-to-the-brim trophy for a gulp. Did the whole team each take a sip? Is this actually spiked Mountain Dew Baja Blast? We have so many questions.

Morgan appears to have been inspired by Australian golfer Cam Smith, the 2022 winner of The Open. After Smith wowed spectators with his record-breaking round during the recent tournament, a reporter asked how he was going to celebrate with the Claret Jug trophy. “I’m definitely going to find out how many beers fit in this thing, that’s for sure,” Smith joked. Well, Morgan did the honors on behalf of the USWNT. Cheers to Morgan and the entire team!
