Now some people might find my list controversial but.. I would say try these exercises first and if you don’t wake up the next morning and think “he’s right each exercise got increasingly more difficult and I’m too sore to move” then you did them wrong because each one of these will force you to engage your back like you never have before.

It’s definitely counterintuitive because when you think back training the first thing that probably comes to mind is throwing around some heavy weight but when you slow things down and focus on movements that not only cause you to really contract each rep but also involve some flexion and extension then you are going to hurt!
